The Jam Factory is a tribute to authentic Rock and Roll, and Rhythm and Blues, with a touch of Soul, Funk, And Metal. It is not a tribute to any specific artist, style, or genre of music. This is a pro-level, well-produced, well-oiled, music machine. The players have performed individually from the East Coast to the West, Maine to Florida, and some abroad. Since debuting in the summer of ’17, we have been on theater stages around CT. Our line-up consists of two killer female vocalists, Jen Mickey, aka, “Mickey”, Jen Wood, Pete Regis on sax, Bari to Soprano, Pete Hurlbut on guitar, Roy Scaturo on bass, Tony Talmich on drums, and Michael Kerish on the mighty Hammond organ. This band delivers the real deal and is one band you will want to see again.
Founded in Torrington, CT, by our passionate leader Michael Kerish in late 2015, The Jam Factory has over 200 years of musical experience between the members.
The Jam Factory is dedicated to celebrating the essence of rock, rhythm & blues, and beyond. We bring you a dynamic mix of timeless classics, deep cuts, and iconic hits spanning over seven decades.
As mentioned in my bio, from ’99 on, my involvement with music was back burner, and not nearly as big a part of my life as it should have been. There was a massive void and I ached to fill it. I told my girl friend of 23 years that it was time for me to re-focus on music. She knew from previous experience, that this would absolutely be a primary objective and I would be laser focused on the end product. She also knew I could not do it without her support. I gave her the news Jan, ’16. From that point on, it was game on. I developed an initial playlist, laid out the show, and formulated a plan.
April found me scratching around, feeling out some players in the area. I leased a 6,500 sq. ft’ rehearsal space June 1 st for a year, and started building. I knew the line-up I wanted; bass, drums, guitar, sax, keys, male and female front, and an engineer. The first player to commit was my sax. I tried to get him in ’95, but he wouldn’t break from his band. This time around, he is all in and is a feature much of the nite. He hung in while we tried out so many players at different positions, at times, depressing. Then my drummer dropped in. I knew he was a fit, but it took him three sessions, with a spartan group, to let his other band go and fully commit. I remember after Tony’s first nite, Pete (sax), and I looked at each other and said, "Man, did we need that.” It was around this time that I found Jen, female vox. It did take quite a while for Pete, guitar, and Roy, bass, to find their way to me. Mitch, male vox, was the last to drop in. Jen is most definitely, absolutely, the perfect girl to front this band. She is a natural, unassuming, full of fire, and so eager to learn, perform, and be a part of a band at this level. One very special girl, and we, are her new big brothers. Jen is one of the band’s most valuable assets. I am honored to have her front my band.
My final player fell into place on Feb 25 of ’17. We had only four months from then to build the show, as I had set a showcase date for June 3 rd . The Jam Factory is most definitely a pro-level, high-energy band. We are currently a cover band, but many of us have original material, and a complete digital, and analogue, tape facility for recording. We will most definitely pursue the dreams that true artists and musicians have.
A footnote I must add. Mitch, and my long time engineer, Larry Hilt, have both passed, and are sorely missed. I think their spirits come around the
studio sometimes just to mess with us, but they are most welcome. We now have a second female vocalist up front in Mickey. She is just as hungry, eager, willing to grow. She is truly part of the family that the Jam Factory is, and deserving of any experience , and knowledge, we can give her. Welcome with open arms,. We all love you Mickey!
